St. Catherine of Siena Empowerment Piggery

This piggery was established in November 2015 with the hopes to empower the people living in Anaka to lift themselves out of extreme poverty.

Pigs play an important role in the livelihoods of poor families, because they are important assets, help to generate income to emergency needs and pay school fees, but also are means to use crop rescues and kitchen left overs, and generate manure used to fertilize high value crops.  

This piggery will provide the mate to each pig purchased and instruction for their care.  Once the families have the pair, they can begin to establish a small business.
