St. Catherine's Nursery School
–
"If you educate them, they can feed and care for themselves." – Fr. James Okello
While visiting St. Catherine's Parish in Wilmington, Delaware in January 2012, Fr. James expressed to us the need of a pre-primary school for children ages 3-7. Fundraising has begun and the ground breaking was held on January 20, 2013.
The nursery school consists of two class rooms divided by two small offices for the staff. Each class will have 40-50 students starting at age 3 up to age 7. If a child never attended pre-primary and is over the age of 7, they will also be admitted to the school. A restroom building was built adjacent to the school and the entire property is fenced and gated for security purposes.
Fundraising events included dining out event at Cafe Napoli Italian Restaurant in Wilmington, Delaware, Buy a Brick campaign held by Resurrection Catholic Church in Newark, Delaware, Guest Bar Tender Night at BBC Tavern and Grill Restaurant, Greenville, Delaware, a shopping event at Ten Thousand Villages Store, Greenville, Delaware and the Give it up for Gulu 5K Run / Walk held at Rockford Park, also in Wilmington.
Contributions are still being accepted for the completion and continued support of this project. To donate, send a check to St. Catherine of Siena, attention Mary Gispert, 2503 Centerville Rd. Wilmington, DE 19808.
